Tesla supercharger network in ...Elon Musk is used to making bold proclamations and setting lofty goals for his companies. From founding a rocket company to compete with NASA, starting an electric car company, building a company to make solar panels viable, to starting a tunneling company for building tunnels under big cities for ferrying cars to alleviate traffic snarls, Musk is no stranger to taking the road less traveled. According to latest news, the maverick bold industrialist has made another bold claim to achieve complete coverage of Tesla superchargers all across Europe. He gave an indication to his plans in a tweet, saying the network will extend from Kiev to Ireland and from Norway to Turkey. Musk envisions a world where customers would be able to travel from anywhere to anywhere else, via a comprehensive network of charging points.
Tesla already has completed a considerable network of chargers in Western Europe, but not so in Eastern Europe. Former East Bloc countries that were part of the former Soviet Union, namely Ukraine, Serbia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, etc. lack any coverage. The electric car maker even hinted at plans to use private buildings with permissions from owners to set up charging points. Tesla announced ambitions for a network of 10,000 chargers but fell short of its goals by over half. Musk has now laid out plans to establish over 18,000 superchargers by the end of this year. However, it has managed only about 11,500.
