Amazon May Roll Out a Game Streaming Device In 2020
The Silicon Review
14 January, 2019

Amazon, the largest e-commerce retailer is working on a game streaming device in order to compete with other big players like Google and Microsoft. The service is expected to roll out in 2020. By 2020, the gaming Industry in the US will be worth $20.28B.

Earlier, the company’s subsidiary AWS has powered Epic Games Fortnite while it has a game engine called Lumberyard which is integrated with Twitch, the company’s video platform. Apart from that, the company owns a game studio which creates games like Grand Tour. The games are based on original IP.

Earlier in 2018 the company revealed about its new platform called GameOn. The platformallowed developers to include leaderboards, competitions and giveaways to their games. Meanwhile, as per reports, since digital download is gaining popularity, the gaming business is becoming uncertain. It’s also understood that it’s simply a valid development given how the company has control over every segment of the gaming arena from selling games to manufacture them.

Since Google and Microsoft are the latest players in the field, it will be interesting to see how Amazon manages to turn out to be different than them in making the space more interesting and creative.

Microsoft on the other side has been pushing it capabilities to play console and PC games on smartphones as its key differentiator.
