Meet the New Cloud-Based Humanoid Service Robot XR-1

CloudMinds, a Chinese company that builds cloud-based systems for intelligent robots has unveiled a new robot. The humanoid service robot is dubbed as XR-1.

The company states that the new robot has brought a change in the space of intelligent robots by showcasing a new tech development.

The highly intelligent service-oriented humanoid robot is equipped by two latest technologies: robot joints and a cloud brain. The company has named the robot joints as Smart Compliant Actuators (SCAs). The cloud brain is a type of human augmented robotic intelligence powered by a cloud platform called Extreme Reality (HARIX).

By combing all these technologies, the robot delivers a complete package of a truly intelligent assistant for human beings.

Coming to the Brain in the cloud, it helps XR-1 to use the powerful engines based on AI, scalability and collective learning capacities. The technology has made the robot’s body power efficient and less costly.

In the mega tech event in Japan, the robot served coffee and other beverages to people with the help of its flexible arms which are made up of compliant joints. The company claims that the compliant joint has the potential to recognize resistance force and prevent any action until the resistance is over.

There is a multimodal sensing subsystem equipped in the robot. It helps it to carry out interactions with people and sense the environment.

The new robot can bring a change in the day to day lives of the people.
