Instagram has launched a new shopping feature for the US users on Tuesday, the Reuters reported. The new feature will now allow users to buy products from the photo-sharing platform by using a checkout option on items marked for sale.

The shopping feature is very simple; users just need to tap on the desired product featured in a post and check out the price for that. To purchase any product, users need to click on the specific page and select the payments options like pay via Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or PayPal.

Instagram has collaborated with brands like Michael Kors, Adidas, Kylie Cosmetics, H&M, and many others for the new feature. The move by Instagram will pave a way for them to enter into territory more familiar to retail giants like Amazon.com Inc and Walmart Inc.

The financial details of the partnerships with the brands were not revealed by Instagram. But according to the company, they would include selling fees to help fund transaction-expenses.

In 2018, Pinterest, image-search platform tried to make a similar move like Instagram, as it rolled out a new feature called product Pins; helping users to purchases by directly linking them to the retailer's page for purchases and payments.

The photo-sharing platform has over 130M which clicks on product tags in shopping every month.

The new feature is currently being piloted in the US and if it’s successful then very soon rest of the world could get it.
