Impossible Foods gets FDA approval to begin selling in Grocery stores
The Silicon Review
02 August, 2019

Impossible Foods has received approval from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to begin selling its  in grocery stores. The company aims to start sales from September. In the wake of this news, Impossible Foods has also announced that it has entered into an agreement with a major food processing company in order to bolster its supplies.

The popularity of veganism has been on the rise with numerous celebrities, influencers as well as healthcare professionals promoting it. Moreover, an increasing number of scientific studies, as well as research from various reputed institutions have revealed the numerous short-term as well as long-term benefits of adopting a vegan diet. Processed meat, especially red meat has long been associated with increasing the risk of cancer. In addition to the obvious health benefits, it has also been established that veganism can help in fighting climate change since the meat industry is responsible for a significant amount of greenhouse emissions.

Impossible Foods has bagged an amazing $300 million from some of the biggest names in venture capitalism earlier this year. Investors include Google Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Bill Gates, Horizon Ventures, UBS, and so on.

The approval from the FDA is also instrumental in disapproving reports about the risks associated with some of the vegan meat products sold by Impossible Foods. The company has expanded to Singapore and signed deals to supply for its patty to major fast-food chains like Burger King and White Castle.
