Palsgaard’s carbon-neutral production taps into demand for sustainability

European emulsifier specialist Palsgaard will be showcasing its new initiative project the carbon-neutral approach at food ingredients Europe, which will be taking place from 3-5 December in Paris. This will be amidst growing consumer demand for sustainable food products in Europe.

Palsgaard which is known as the modern plant-based food emulsifier achieved the production of carbon-neutral production in the year 2018 after cutting net emissions from 12,029 tonnes to zero. The Danish company’s net-zero production has tapped into the growing demand for sustainable food products across the globe, especially in Europe.

According to the recent analysis, it is said that 98% of food retailers in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain reported an increase in the sales of sustainable products over the last five years. The analysis also showed that the food category saw the highest growth in the rate of sustainable product sales during the same timeframe which is approximately 18.3%.

“Climate change is now attracting widespread attention and the research shows that both consumers and retailers are increasingly demanding sustainable products. As far as we know, we’re the only company in the emulsifier industry anywhere to have achieved this,” state JakobThøisen, CEO of Palsgaard, said. Palsgaard will showcase its specialized emulsifiers (and emulsifier/stabilizer systems) for dairy, confectionery, bakery, condiments, ice cream and a range of other applications.
