Cisco to use its Webex video devices with Microsoft’s team meeting services

In a recent press conference,Microsoft and Cisco announced that both the companies are starting a new venture which will enable the customers to use a system driven based experience with brand new meeting experiences. The tech giants made a recent announcementthat they will be partnering with Cisco, through which they’re can facilitate the use of Cisco Webex video devices with Microsoft Teams meeting services.

Cisco will be introducing a Microsoft based video Interop-certified Webex offeringwhich will allow the Webex devices and SIP videoconferencing devices to join the Microsoft innovation and infrastructure platform team meetings without requiring any prior permission.

“People are at the forefront of shaping the way work is performed and they need the right collaboration technologies to get work done even faster.  These tools must work seamlessly together to really be impactful in enabling teamwork that leads to better results, higher productivity, and engaged employees,” said Sri Srinivasan, Senior VP, and GM for the Team Collaboration Group, Cisco.

Both the companies are jointly developing a compatibility service that would let a Webex Device of Cisco to join a Microsoft Teams meeting and a Microsoft team's room can also join the Cisco Webex meeting. This is done with respect to WebRTC-based apps for meeting will be supported by next-generation meeting room devices that can run via embedded web technologies. This new solution is expected to be available in early 2020.
