The Silicon Review
31 March, 2020

Microsoft has rebranded its flagship product, Office 365 to Microsoft 365 so that it can seem a part of the family of apps and services that are a part of the productivity suite. Due to the lockdowns and cancellations of several events, Microsoft made the announcement via an official blog post on 30th March. The rebranding will be on 21st April where the new features of the rebranded Office 365 will be revealed.

Microsoft has confirmed that the existing users will not be affected and can continue using Office 365 without any changes in features and subscription prices until 21st April.

Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, the core Office products will remain as important as they are now and will not be moved or changed. Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a bigger role in Microsoft 365 and its features are expected to help users become better designers, writers, managers, and presenters. For example, features like Re-write suggestions to rephrase and Similarity checkers to help avoid plagiarism will help those in the writing industry. Money in Excel can help manage user’s spending and savings in one place. Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscription is going to include the premium desktop Office Apps, 1 hour of Skype minutes and 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage per person. The family pack is expected to cost $9.99 per month.

There haven’t been any announcements regarding the pricing of the Microsoft 365 for businesses or Office 365 for Enterprises.
