Google adds new feature to its messaging app, now lets you reply with emoji
The Silicon Review
24 July, 2020

Google has added a new feature to its messaging app exclusively for Android users. Google is including the ability to reply to any messages with emoticons and emoji reactions. This option was available in other messaging apps other than Google, but now Google has finally included the emoji reactions with few other modifications. Google will have a new version of emoji icons that are way different than other messaging apps.

Google has also released demonstrating videos on how to use the emoji. The user has to tap and hold the message they want to react to and shortlist the required emojis, which are available in an animated version. The selected emoji will pop up, and the user can pick the suitable emoji from that list. The emoji reaction can only be used if the RCS chat is turned on.

Google is also adding new features such as Smart Reply that automatically suggests the potential responses based on the text received. It can also suggest suitable emoji and stickers beside the text. Right now, the feature is only available in English. Google is also adding a few other tools that help the user to Video call straight from a text conversation, and media editor can be used to mark up photos and share it
