Popular cybersecurity firm Sop...Sophos, one of the leading cybersecurity companies in the world, has recently made an announcement to a few of its customers that there has been a data breach. The customers were notified via mail about the breach, and only a few subsets of the customers were significantly affected due to it. ZDNet published a report a few days back regarding the breach, and it was mentioned that the breach had exposed details of the customers like their names, phone numbers, and email ids (irrespective of where they were provided). Sophos sent out the email to customers in regards to a small issue in the tools used for storing information of the customers who reached out to the company.
In the email, it was mentioned that only a few customers were affected by the breach. However, it must be noted that this is the second time Sophos is reporting a breach this year. In April, an update patch was immediately sent out from the UK-headquartered firm to fix a vulnerability in its product, which was regularly abused by hackers. Sophos stated that the news regarding the breach reached it after a security researcher alerted the company of the same. The company is deploying additional security measures to ensure security.
