Amazon Planning to Expand Boston Tech Hub

Amazon’s latest plan of expanding the Boston Tech Hub may create more than 3,000 jobs. To make this make happen, the e-commerce giant has leased a brand new 17-story office tower located at One Boston Wharf Road in the 33-acre Boston Seaport project.

The move by Amazon is huge as the expanded Boston tech Hub team will support teams across the company, including Alexa, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon Robotics, and Amazon Pharmacy. Amazon’s vision of accommodating the expanded team at One Boston Wharf Road will also benefit Bostonians as the project will feature a community dog park, ground-floor retail space, and a new performing arts center.

Commenting on the development, Rohit Prasad, Vice President & Head Scientist for Alexa at Amazon, said: “Much of the technology that makes Alexa smarter every day is invented in Boston. The city of Boston has already received a good share of attention from Amazon as the company’s well-known Amazon Future Engineer program helps children and young adults pursue computer science and supports as many as 20 schools in the city area.
