Android 12 Will Offer Simplici...Every major Android release improves upon the security, but this time around the focus is also on making the user experience simpler coupled with bolstered security. In its Android 12 developer preview, Google is introducing fresh features that will lock on delivering ace security, simplicity and privacy while being productive for the employees.
To start out, Google is making it easier for users with work profile devices to use their passwords more efficiently. Granular requirements have thus far caused easily forgotten passwords. To prevent this, the Android 12 developer preview is showcasing pre-set complexity levels of high, medium, or low that will be used to access the device. With this, IT teams can rest assured that their devices are safe and easy to use for employees.
But if admins still prefer to utilize a more granular password, they can. They can do this through the work security challenge to manage access to business apps in the work profile. The work security will challenge enable an IT-approved password for access to data in the work profile, separate from a simplified password for the device. “We’ve improved the device setup process to prompt employees if their provided password doesn’t meet complexity requirements set by their admin,” wrote Google on its blog.
Android 12 will be making the credential management for unmanaged devices available to apps besides the device policy client. This way, more companies will be able to extend secure access to employees regardless of their location, an essential requirement in the COVID-19 era.
