Geisinger, a health and wellness organization focused on making better health easier has stated that it is partnering with Acadia Healthcare Company, the USA's largest stand-alone behavioral healthcare company. Both the companies have formed a joint venture to address the immediate need for high-quality inpatient behavioral health services in central and northeastern Pennsylvania. As part of the collaboration, two new inpatient behavioral health facilities will be built in Moosic and Danville.
These new facilities will serve adult and pediatric patients, and they will be starting their function by 2022. The new inpatient behavioral health service center will have a new 96-bed, and it will be a 73,000-square-foot facility. Both companies focus on providing quality care and strong clinical outcomes. Geisinger and Acadia will be investing a huge sum of $80 million into these facilities that are said to create approximately 200 new jobs by the end of 2024.
This partnership will provide an opportunity for Geisinger to consolidate inpatient behavioral programs from Geisinger Bloomsburg hospital, Geisinger community medical center, and Geisinger medical center. This will also provide an opportunity for these units to be repurposed for additional capacity along with expanded private room availability. This vast array of behavioral health services provide the best care previously not seen in central and northeastern Pennsylvania, particularly for children and adolescents.
