New tactics should be implemented to boost vaccination rates, says Amy Pisani

New tactics should be implemented to boost vaccination rates, says Amy Pisani
The Silicon Review
23 March, 2021

Amy Pisani, who serves as the executive director for the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization, Vaccinate Your Family, has shared her opinion about the COVID-19 vaccination processes and vaccination distribution. She has stated that frantic seniors have been calling Vaccinate Your Family in recent weeks, looking for help in securing a vaccine appointment. Besides, many seniors are waiting to get an appointment to get their first vaccine shot.

The vaccine distribution problem has been particularly acute in regions like Georgia. In Pisani's view, the website run by Georgia's Department of Public Health is "not normal" as it directs the users to register for vaccine appointments and the waitlists are at multiple participating sites. This has become the major issue of concern why the state's vaccine penetration rate constantly ranks among the nation's lowest.

This slow rollout of vaccines contributed to another COVID-19 era phenomenon, especially for the people of Georgia. To limit this, Georgia needs a centralized pre-registration site. Vaccinators need to be more diligent about working with groups at high risk of getting Covid, said Ms. Amy. This commitment to vaccine equity extends to lower the infection rate and prioritizing the appointment to people who are in real need of vaccine.
