Apex Legends Legend Specific Badges Overview

Apex Legends Legend Specific Badges Overview
The Silicon Review
12 April, 2021

Apex Legends is a highly popular free-to-play FPS battle royal game. Like most battle royale games, Apex Legends has a lot of cosmetics to unlock and an even larger number of badges for players to acquire.

Players can unlock badges and choose to display a badge on their player name/account banner—a banner that other players see in lobbies, victory screens, and matchmaking screens.

Apex has a host of badges for players to earn and unlock. The standard range of badges that most games of its ilk have are also present in Apex: badges for winning games, using certain guns to accomplish kill feats, dealing damage, owning cosmetics like legend or gun skins, and a variety of others.

Legend Specific Badges

Apex also has a wide assortment of Legend specific badges to unlock—badges that are attached to specific legends that gamers play as. Each legend badge must be earned by using that specific legend.

Each legend has five legend specific badges, and all the badges are acquired by winning games as that legend.

Seeing as how the badges require wins, they can take a fair bit of invested time to acquire. Some will be easier to get than others, and it’s always a good idea to play with a group of friends and coordinate your team composition. This can make winning games a more enjoyable, and easier process.

Legend Badges Breakdown

There are five total badges for each legend, and each badge is titled with the name “Apex” first followed by the name of the legend and the number of the badge rank in roman numerals, i.e. Apex Wraith II. The badges are as follows:

  • Win 1 game with the specific legend.
  • Win 5 games with the specific legend.
  • Win 15 games with the specific legend.
  • Win 50 games with the specific legend.
  • Win 100 games with the specific legend.

Legend Wins Badges Design

The badges are diamond-shaped and feature an artwork portrait inspired by the specific legend in the center and a unique background for each different legend.

The detail of the badges increases as the rank of the feat accomplished increases. The first level of the legend badge is a diamond with a plain border, the artwork portrait, and background.

The second level, Badge II, adds a bold definition to the top point of the diamond and a line coming out of each side of the bottom point of the diamond.

The Third level fills in part of the border at the top point of the diamond—essentially connecting the space between either side of the top point. A star is also added to the bottom of the diamond on the background just below the portrait.

The fourth level adds two more lines to the bottom of the diamond—an additional one on either side to total two on each side. This level also removes the star from the bottom of the diamond and instead adds a star to the left and right sides of the diamond on the background—one on either side of the portrait, making two stars total.

The fifth and final level adds another two lines to the bottom of the diamond—another additional one on either side to total three on each side. This final level keeps the two stars on either side of the portrait and adds the star back in on the bottom to have three stars.

Wake and Wrath Badges

Each legend also has five other badges to go along with the win badges.

The “Wake” badge requires getting 20 kills in one game with the specific legend.

The Wrath badge has four levels and requires dealing certain amounts of damage in a single game.

  • Level 1: Deal 2,000 Damage
  • Level 2: Deal 2,500 Damage
  • Level 3: Deal 3,000 Damage
  • Level 4: Deal 4,000 Damage

Wake and Wrath Badge Designs

The Wake badge is uniform across all heroes: a diamond with 20 skulls inside it to signify the 20 kills. The top of the diamond is blue, and the bottom is red.

The Wrath badges are also the same design across all heroes. The first level has a hammer, angled, in the center of the diamond with a star on either side and at the top, and lightning-bolt-like designs on the bottom of the diamond border.

The second level adds designs on the sides of the diamond border. The third level turns the hammer upright and adds more designs between each star. The final level adds another hammer—to total two—and moves the designs between the stars to outside the diamond.

How to Earn Legend Specific Badges

Winning. It’s a simple concept to earn the badges, but the execution will vary for different players. The skill of the player, team composition, time that can be allotted to play, and of course a little luck all factor into how quickly a gamer can acquire the badges.

Being that Apex Legends is a massive battle royale game, and that legend badges hinge upon winning games, it can take a long time to unlock the levels of the badges. It’s no small feat to get 100 wins, kill 20 enemies in a game, or deal 4,000 damage in a game, and the time investment to unlock these badges is considerable.

The legend badges do not offer any sort of gameplay advantage or unlock cosmetics, they’re purely for show. But what a show they are! Players that can display their legend badges let others know that they have an understanding of the character.
