Renesas Partners with Qualcomm Technologies to Speed-Up Adoption of Wireless Charging for Smartphones

Renesas Electronics Corporation, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, has stated that it has expanded its ongoing work with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a leader in wireless technologies, to include 30W wireless charging capabilities for mid-range smartphones powered by the latest Qualcomm^® Snapdragon™ 780G 5G Mobile Platform. This is the second high-power wireless charging smartphone reference design collaboration for the two companies.

The 5g mobile reference designs of Qualcomm Technologies provide turnkey solutions that facilitate smartphone OEMs to implement fast wireless charging on flagship and mid-range smartphones effectively. This also includes Multi-Time Programmability (MTP) and OTA updates to simplify software development and the Qi certification process. This helps both companies extend their reach of wireless power technology to a broader range of customers.

Both the companies will deliver a more seamless, wireless user experience with turnkey, fast wireless charging solutions for mainstream mobile devices. They also focus on developing leading-edge wireless charging solutions and opening up reliable wireless power access for mass adoption. Combining Renesas integrated 30W technology and Qualcomm's cutting-edge 5G technology; both the companies will best-in-class wireless charging capabilities to mid-range smartphones.
