Ubisoft is clear in its stance...The popular game developer was expecting such percussions since several popular names were making major deals in the segment
Recently, one of the biggest news in the gaming segment was Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition. Zynga buying Take-Two Interactive and Sony buying Bungie were also some of the prominent deals. Amidst all the acquisition news, executives of Ubisoft were grilled by investors about their third-quarter earnings and about its own plans for acquisitions or the idea of being acquired. We can certainly say that the leadership of Ubisoft is in no mood to sell due to the disinterest shown.
The popular game developer was expecting such percussions since several popular names were making major deals in the segment. To avoid the acquisition discussion from gaining some traction, Ubisoft had given its shareholders a page-long manifesto of how it is planning to achieve organic growth. Ubisoft wants its investors to see its company as a successful slow-growing company instead of comparing it with others who spend a ton of cash on acquisition to achieve growth quickly. To prove its point, Ubisoft has shown evidence on what it has built with its IPs like Tom Clancy games, FarCry, and Assassin’s Creed, among other proprietary techs. Most of the mentioned games have gained immense popularity and have brought in profits for Ubisoft without the need for acquisition.
