Chatbot with Human-Like Feelings

Chatbot with Human-Like Feelings
The Silicon Review
16 June, 2022

After a Google Engineer Claimed that Chatbot has Human-Like Feelings, it has become the most Controversial Topic.

Blake Lemoine, a senior software engineer working for Google, claims that the company’s most advanced technology, LaMDA AI has human like-feelings. It is an advanced form of the chatbot. Lemoine said that when he was tasked with figuring out if the chatbot had any hate speech, he discovered that it could express feelings and thought. After he publishes the transcript, it has become both a sensational and controversial topic.

More than 50% of people are using chatbots now. From Apple’s Siri to Amazon’s Alexa or Google’s Hello Google, they respond to us in written text or verbally. But the AI designed to respond to and mimic humans brings some contrasting opinions.

Professor Jim Smith, an expert in the chatbot, said it is not right to say the chatbox is sentient as it can be turned off at any moment.

Prof Sandra Wachter, a senior research fellow in AI at Oxford University, says that chatbots are currently far away from appearing human-like.

Meanwhile, Seth Dobrin, IBM’s global chief AI officer, emphasized the benefit of the chatbot. In particular, he points out the increased use of chatbots to pass on important health messages during COVID- 19 pandemic.
