The satellite is set to be the world's most expensive earth imaging satellite as it is developed at an estimated cost of $1.5 billion

NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite has been completed and set to undergo testing soon. It is a project of the payload integration of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The NISAR is an earth observation satellite, and it will be the first radar imaging satellite using dual frequencies when launched. It will be used to observe natural processes such as natural disasters and natural disturbances using remote sensing. The data collected by NISAR will be available within hours of the occurrence of natural disasters, and this information would be helpful in rescue and rehabilitation.

The satellite is set to be the world's most expensive earth imaging satellite as it is developed at an estimated cost of $1.5 billion. With the completion of the payload integration, the testing of the satellite is to be conducted in the US. After the testing, the satellite will be sent to India to be integrated into the ISRO'S Geostationary Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark –II, which will launch the NISAR satellite into Space. The mission's primary goal is to collect and distribute the data from the satellite to aid on-ground applications. The satellite is expected to launch in 2023.
