WhatsApp brings two new features, elevates privacy factor

WhatsApp brings two new features, elevates privacy factor
The Silicon Review

Now you can select who can see your profile picture, last seen, and status on WhatsApp.

Until now, WhatsApp allowed you to hide profile photos, ‘last seen’ and ‘About,’ either from people not on your contact list or everyone. But with the new updated version, the users can set ‘profile picture,’ ‘about,’ and ‘last seen’ for ‘My Contact,’ open it for ‘Everyone’ to see, ‘Nobody’ or ‘My Contacts Except….’ With the new feature, you can control who can see your information.

This Meta-owned messaging app has consistently rolled out features that make this app handier and better than others. The platform is upgraded regularly as per the demand and requirements. Due to “potential privacy implications,” since last year, WhatsApp has started hiding users’ ‘last seen’ status from strangers.

In the latest version, WhatsApp has also added a feature to mute other people in a group call. This option to mute people can be helpful in big group calls when someone forgets to mute their calls. Even video conferencing platforms like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom does not offer the option to every individual member to mute other people. WhatsApp’s new feature helps control 32 user’s group voice calls and eight user’s video calls.
