The White House Monkeypox vacc...The White House plans to dispatch thousands of Monkeypox vaccines to the United States.
With the growing federal campaign, the White House is planning to ship vaccines to halt the outbreak. Health officials say they are trying to increase testing and looking for people who should take the vaccine in the first place. Previously, the vaccines were only offered to people with known exposure. Now any person believed to be exposed to Monkeypox is called for a jab by the federal government's directive.
The virus, typically found in Africa, it has been sweeping through the US and Europe with surprising speed. There are 306 cases in the US so far, and the health officials warned in a media briefing that the actual number of cases is possibly higher. There have been over 4,700 reported cases across 49 countries since last month.
Officials said that the Department of Health and Human Service would distribute 56,000 doses of Jynneos, a two-dose vaccine manufactured by a Danish company, Nordic. The Food and Drug Administration approved Jynneos, can stop infection after a person is exposed to the virus. However, the US has 64,000 doses of Jynneos in its stock. Officials announce that they plan to make 1.25 million doses throughout the summer and fall.
