Amazon to launch a new gadget, Halo Rise

Amazon has also invested in health-tracking technology for its consumers

Amazon.com Inc.  announced the introduction of a contactless gadget that will monitor people’s sleep along with other features such as e-reading and line-up of voice-controlled devices. The gadget known as Halo Rise, retails for $139.99 and performs various activities such as track the humidity and light of the room, track the room temperature and also monitor and track the breathing patterns of the person closest to it.

Following the path of other tech giants like Alphabet Inc’s Google and Apple Inc., Amazon has also invested in health-tracking technology for its consumers; it has also faced regulatory scrutiny for reasons concerning data security since a considerable amount of sensitive information it aims to collect via Halo, its fitness wristband. However, Amazon has assured that privacy is the foundation of its work and that its new sleep device will be encrypting the sensitive health data and also has no microphone or camera. Amazon has been exploring health technologies and has also announced that it will be buying the primary care provider One Medical for $3.5 billion. The company has also announced the launch of the new Kindle e-reader with a pen for annotating books digitally.
