Israel’s Strauss Group t...Two plants that produce the Elite brand chocolates have been thoroughly cleaned
Israel's famous chocolate company the Strauss Group has resumed the production of chocolate after the manufacturing plant was shut down for five months due to salmonella. The products will reach the store shelves in the coming weeks, the company said, adding that the renewed manufacturing was being so-ordinated with Israel's Health Ministry. Two plants that produce the Elite brand chocolates have been thoroughly cleaned and undergone infrastructure upgrades as part of an overall effort to boost quality control, Strauss said.
In late April, the Health Ministry ordered the company to suspend production suspended at the candy factory near the northern city of Nazareth; this was amidst a recall that swept popular snacks off the grocery shelves. The plant was then temporarily shut down after a routine inspection found strains of salmonella, a bacterium that is known to cause intestinal disease. Strauss previously projected a hit of 170-230 million shekels ($49-$67 million) for its 2022 financial results.
