Shopify warns merchants agains...According to Marketplace Pulse, Shopify is warning merchants that the one-click checkout service Amazon violates its terms of service.
Amazon introduced Buy with Prime pitching it as a way for merchants to grow traffic on their websites. The service lets merchants offer Amazon’s, speedy delivery options on their site and add the Prime logo. Amazon Prime loyalty club members can check out using their Amazon account.
According to a notice Shopify sends merchants, it will not protect merchants who try to use Buy with Prime against fraudulent orders. The notice also warns that the new service of Amazon could charge customers incorrectly and steal their data.
Amazon’s Buy with Prime competes directly with Shopify’s Shop Pay, the instant checkout and payment service. The Canadian company has sought to expand the feature beyond its platform by striking deals with Google and Facebook last year. In response to the claim of Shopify that Buy with Prime is insecure, an Amazon spokesperson said that they protect information collected via Buy with Prime per Amazon’s high-security standards. They use the information to provide and improve Buy with Prime for shoppers and merchants.
