SpaceX urged the FCC to approve federal funding in support of this move

SpaceX is planning to expand Starlink, its satellite internet service to some school buses in the US, according to a filing with the Federal Communications Commission. The company told the FCC that it is presently working with school districts in rural areas of the country to provide students with SpaceX's satellite internet service on buses. The company is focusing the pilot program on bus routes that are over an hour long and are "predominantly inaccessible to other mobile broadband services."

SpaceX said in its filing, many students who need support live miles away from school with lengthy commutes and no connectivity. The move is an initiative to help these students who also most likely tend to be from lower income households who cannot access internet even at their homes. SpaceX claims that no other service is better suited to close the overlooked Homework Gap than Starlink. In the letter, SpaceX urged the FCC to approve federal funding in support of this move
