As Netflix is fighting to keep the viewer so it’s launching a new streaming option in November with advertisements.

In November the new plan will be available in 12 countries including the US, the UK, Mexico, Australia, and Canada. The firm said that for the service it will charge £4.99 a month in the UK and $6.99 in the US. As the cost of living pressures are mounting and competition among streaming platforms increases, Netflix loses its customers. The firm lost more than 1 million subscribers in the first half of 2022. The company lost more than 1 million subscribers in the first half of this year.

The move of Netflix into advertising is a big change for the company, as it pioneered the idea of subscription-based streaming. But now many entertainment companies rolled out online streaming platforms so Netflix has a harder time retaining subscribers. It is especially due to households concerned about the rising cost of living.

The company said that subscribers to the new service should expect to see an average of four to five minutes of adverts per hour. Some TV series and films will not be available due to licensing restrictions. Netflix said it planned to expand the service to more countries over time.
