Dior transforms Harrods in London with glittering holiday light display

Dior first took over a corner of the classic British upmarket store in the 1950s.

French fashion label Christian Dior starts preparing for the coming holiday season by unveiling a Christmas spectacle at Harrods. The event was presided by tennis star Emma Raducanu. The LVMH –owned brand outlined the London department store’s façade with lights, embellishing the entrance with an enormous star and filling the windows with merchandise and sugar sculptures. Inside the store, they set up an exhibit of gingerbread –style renditions of buildings from the life of its namesake founder, filling the exhibit with intricate displays and opening the same for public viewing through a free online booking system .Pietro Beccari, who is Dior’s chief executive officer, said that this is one of the biggest things the they have done together.

The holidays are a season when the luxury sector grown strongly and locals and tourists do not hesitate on splashing out on designer fashion despite soaring prices .Michael Ward, managing director of Harrods "We're atypical - we focus on the really ultra-high net worth individuals, and they haven't really been hit by the crisis.” The chain is however facing some ongoing challenges due to the store closures in Russia and China COVID Lockdowns. However, it says that there is still a great appetite for luxury.
