After top privacy and compliance officers reportedly quit Twitter, the US regulator says it is watching events on the platform with "deep concern"

The new chief executive of Twitter, Elon Musk was "not above the law", said the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Since Elon Musk joined the social media company it has been in disarray as he has been firing thousands of employees. Separately, employees are reportedly told that bankruptcy is not out of the question for the platform.

Along with other employees Chief privacy officer, Twitter's head of trust and safety, and chief compliance officer are no longer in their roles. Their departures may increase the risk the platform of violating regulatory orders. For selling users’ data the firm was fined $150m in May and it also had to agree to new rules to put in place a privacy and security program, overseen by the executives, who reportedly quit the platform.

Mr. Musk has fired chief executive Parag Agrawal and other top management since he joined the company. The advertising and marketing chiefs of Twitter have also left and thus it is adding to concerns that Twitter does not have enough people to oversee that it remains compliant with regulations.
