Deliveries for the entire year decreased by 4.8% with supply chain issues, notably in the ear; half of year having the biggest impact on Europe and China. Sales increased again in the fourth quarter as a result of supply chain adjustments made by the firm in Europe and the lifting of Chinese lockdowns. In Europe and China, sales increased by 10.9% and 12.7%, respectively, year over year.
Deliveries in the US were stable, declining by only 1.31% for the year, helped by an increase of 11.1% in the fourth quarter. Fully electric car sales did well, more than doubling to 215,755 during the course of the year.
BMW fared better in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic than its rivals, posting record sales in 2021. Even though 2022 had more issues, increased pricing has so far made up for the decline in sales volume. According to the automaker’s trading report on Tuesday, it now intends to switch to a direct sales model in 24 European regions with agents serving as sales reps.
