Microsoft’s revamped Teams will soon make its debut

Microsoft’s Teams
The Silicon Review
22 Febuary, 2023

Formally referred to as Microsoft Teams 2.0 or 2.1, Microsoft has already been constructing this new Teams client for years

In the upcoming month, Microsoft will release a new version of the company's Teams, which has been completely redesigned to drastically reduce the amount of system resources it consumes on both desktop and laptop computers. According to sources close to Microsoft's initiatives, the tech giant has only begun testing the latest Teams client widely within Microsoft and intends to release a beta to Microsoft Teams users in March. Formally referred to as Microsoft Teams 2.0 or 2.1, Microsoft has already been constructing this new Teams client for years. The application ought to improve laptop battery life by utilizing 50% less CPU and memory processing power.

Companies that use Teams are still using the outdated Teams client due to the large amount of effort required for Microsoft to rebuild the client, even though some of this early work was deployed in the built-in Teams experience for consumers in Windows 11. With this new application, Teams switches from Electron to Microsoft's Edge Webview 2 platform. Microsoft has also switched to React, a Javascript framework that will soon provide additional UI enhancements for Teams. Teams must now open much more quickly and appear more reactive while you're delivering a presentation in a meeting or replying to messages as a result of the enhancements. Many of the problems and criticisms regarding Teams' performance, particularly on older computers, must be addressed by the updated Teams app.
