The Fabric organizes data in an easy-to-use data hub and automatically indexes it for discovery, sharing, governance, and compliance.

Microsoft announced the Microsoft Fabric, a new data and analytics platform, at the ongoing Build 2023 event. It includes OneLake, a built-in SaaS multi-cloud data lake. All Fabric workloads are wired into OneLake automatically, much as all Microsoft 365 applications are wired into OneDrive. Fabric is a comprehensive analytics solution that handles all aspects of an organization's analytics requirements.

The Fabric organizes data in an easy-to-use data hub and automatically indexes it for discovery, sharing, governance, and compliance. AI sits at the heart of Microsoft Fabric. It includes Azure OpenAI Service at every tier to help customers realize the full value of their data, allowing developers to utilize the power of generative AI against their data and supporting business users in finding insights in their data.

According to Microsoft, clients may use Fabric as a single product with a unified experience and architecture that delivers all of the features required for a developer to extract insights from data and display them to the business user. The new analytics tool works with Microsoft 365 applications. Customers may buy a single compute pool that powers all Fabric workloads and build solutions that freely harness all workloads without any friction in their experience or commerce.
