Twitch will give smaller streams a larger share of subscription revenue

Twitch subscription revenue

Twitch's Partner Plus program will reward more successful artists with a 70% cut of net subscription revenue.

Twitch is providing livestreamers with a much stronger incentive to build their audiences. The site intends to launch a Partner Plus program, which would provide more successful producers a 70% part of their net subscription revenue rather than the normal 50%, up to a $100,000 threshold every calendar year. For three months, a partner must have at least 350 regular paid memberships (gifts and Prime do not count).

Partner Plus boosts practical income of many more streamers than Premium, encouraging them to stay with the service, especially if they are just starting out. This supposedly increases the total number of available channels while preventing viewers from switching to competitors. Partner Plus isn't certain to address the problem, but it does show Twitch is willing to change its strategy in reaction to these issues.

Partner Plus will go live on October 1st and will automatically include anyone who has met the standards over the previous three months. The program will be available worldwide and will provide no additional benefits to Premium Partners (big creators who have secured special terms).
