Fisker's $29,900 Pear electric...Foxconn has been confirmed as the manufacturer at its Lordstown, Ohio, facility.
Fisker has revealed more details about its $29,900 Pear electric urban lifestyle crossover vehicle at the company's Product Vision Day. Foxconn has been confirmed as the manufacturer at its Lordstown, Ohio, facility. The Pear is Fisker's first vehicle to implement the in-house-designed "Fisker Blade" computer. Fisker also plans to make the Pear easier and faster to assemble to save money by reducing the parts count by 35%. The vehicle features a Houdini trunk, a drawer-like frunk, and a "Lounge Mode" that creates a space for a lie-down. Fisker offers two battery options for a range of 180 miles or 320 miles and will be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.3 seconds.
Fisker says it will deliver the Pear in July 2025 and that a production-intent version will debut at the IAA Mobility 2023 event in Munich. Fisker has already fallen short of its own delivery and production expectations this year. Foxconn also infamously failed to deliver on its stated intentions to build a factory in Wisconsin that would create 13,000 jobs. While Fisker and Foxconn have not confirmed the finalization of the deal, Pear's announcement suggests that the two may have reached common ground. Building a sub-$30,000 electric vehicle remains a difficult feat that no other EV maker has accomplished. Fisker has to tackle production and delivery challenges and find ways to save costs to avoid making the same mistakes as other automakers.
