Microsoft has revamped its Xbox gaming leadership team

Xbox gaming leadership team
The Silicon Review
27 October, 2023

From his arrival at Microsoft in 2017, Bond has emerged as a rising star inside Xbox

Less than two weeks after acquiring Activision Blizzard, Microsoft is reorganizing its Xbox gaming and marketing leadership. Matt Booty has been promoted to President of Game Content and Studios by Microsoft, which includes his new role at ZeniMax. Sarah Bond has been promoted to President of Xbox, which will oversee all Xbox platform and hardware functions. Chris Capossela, the chief marketing officer of Microsoft, is leaving the company after 32 years of service. As a result of the Xbox modifications, ZeniMax and Bethesda are now part of the larger Microsoft Gaming organization that Booty will now oversee.

From his arrival at Microsoft in 2017, Bond has emerged as a rising star inside Xbox, especially in the background of Activision Blizzard's most recent acquisition. Bond even made an appearance at the FTC v. Microsoft case to provide Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley an explanation of video games and the Xbox business. Bond will now be in charge of Xbox's upcoming software and hardware, which might include a next-generation hybrid system in 2028 and a revamped Xbox Series X without a disc next year.

After Bobby Kotick, the CEO of Activision Blizzard, leaves Microsoft at the end of 2023, there will be more women than men in senior positions related to gaming at Microsoft as a result of these Xbox leadership moves.
