The US might outdo its numbers...Last month, US oil output hit a record high of 13.2 million barrels per day, and it has stayed there ever since.
The oil and gas industry is expected to extract more oil and gas than ever before, despite President Joe Biden's commitment to address climate change, which has angered conservatives who accuse him of waging war on American energy. Last month, US oil output hit a record high of 13.2 million barrels per day, and it has stayed there ever since. The nation is expected to produce the most oil ever in 2023. This year, US natural gas production also reached a record high and doesn't appear to be slowing down. Republicans' claims that Biden administration policies have impeded US energy production are undermined by the numbers.
In fact, according to federal energy data obtained by Politico, in Biden's first 21 months in office, his government permitted 74% more new oil and gas wells than former President Donald Trump did in the same period. Additionally, during that time, US crude oil production increased under Biden compared to Trump. Reed Olmstead, executive director of S&P Global Commodity Insights, told Politico last year that "no specific US policy is meaningfully hindering US production," despite protests from the GOP to the contrary. However, not all of the record-high US energy production is good news for Biden, as those on the left argue the president has not gone far enough to fulfill his pledge to accelerate the shift to green energy.
