In August 2023, BAE Systems completed the acquisition of Ball Aerospace for $5.55 billion, pending regulatory clearance and standard closing conditions. Ball Aerospace, a subsidiary of Ball Corporation, specializes in spacecraft, mission payloads, and optical systems, catering to esteemed clientele such as the US Department of Defense and the intelligence community. According to the "Thematic Intelligence: Space Systems in Aerospace and Defense (2023)" report by GlobalData, BAE Systems' acquisition of Ball Aerospace signifies a significant transformation in the defense industry landscape, given Ball's involvement in various cutting-edge projects for entities like NASA and the ESA.
