Primark expanded its presence in the U.S.

Primark
The Silicon Review
09 Febuary, 2024

Eric Green, CEO of the Jacksonville Port Authority welcomed Primark with much excitement

It was announced that Primark, an international Irish clothing retailer, has inaugurated a new distribution center in Jacksonville, Florida, and outlined plans for four new store openings. The newly established distribution center, located in North Jacksonville, features an expansive warehouse covering more than 550,000 square feet. This move underscores Primark's strategic vision to fortify its presence in the United States, particularly in the Southern states, such as Florida and Texas. Simultaneously, Primark revealed its intentions to open four new stores at prominent locations: Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, Virginia; Mall at Prince George's in Hyattsville, Maryland; CoolSprings Galleria in Franklin, Tennessee; and Katy Mills in Katy, Texas.

Looking ahead, buoyed by the presence of the Jacksonville distribution center, Primark aims to extend its footprint in Florida, with further store openings planned for Orlando and beyond. To streamline its operations, Primark intends to utilize the services of the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) for cargo imports. The strategic location of JAXPORT, within a day's truck drive of nearly 100 million US consumers, positions it as an ideal gateway for Primark's logistical needs. Notably, this marks Primark's second distribution center in the US, complementing the existing facility in Bethlehem, PA. Currently, Primark operates 24 stores across nine states in the US, with ambitious plans to expand its store count to 60 nationwide by 2026, demonstrating its commitment to growth and expansion in the American market.
