Ukrainian and United States partners launched the MITS

There exists a stereotype suggesting that defense institutions primarily engage with large defense corporations, thereby overlooking startups. However, the defense sector is experiencing significant transformations and necessitates decisive actions, spurred by Ukraine's resolute resistance and innovative warfare strategies. The solution lies in collaborating with startups—nimble technology firms—whose rapid and inventive proposals directly impact combat operations. This cooperation not only contributes significantly to the development of the Ukrainian and global defense ecosystems but also expedites technological advancement.

Hence, leading Ukrainian and American companies, along with defense and technology experts, announced the launch of MITS (inspired by the Ukrainian word for "might"), an international defense accelerator, on February 23, 2024, in Kyiv. MITS aims to propel Ukraine's defense technology sector forward, assisting young technology firms in securing optimal partnerships and scaling their operations while ensuring that the Ukrainian Armed Forces promptly integrate the best defense technology products. The accelerator offers startups a $200,000 investment package, comprising $100,000 in direct funding and $100,000 worth of unique expertise provided in collaboration with the American University of Kyiv, supported by Arizona State University, renowned for innovation. MITS and American University Kyiv have developed a specialized business program to elevate startups to global standards in defense technology, equipping them with new competencies to emerge as market leaders.
