Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. (OTC QB: BNET), a company specializing in advanced livestock waste treatment and resource recovery technology, has submitted an application to the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for the inclusion of its liquid 10-0-0 nitrogen fertilizer, derived from livestock waste, in the OMRI listing. The fertilizer, known as ammonium bicarbonate, is a stable source of nitrogen sourced from reactive ammonia found in livestock and other organic waste streams. Previously, Bion obtained an OMRI listing for its 0.5 percent ammonium bicarbonate solution in 2020. Additionally, the company is in the process of preparing an application to the California Department of Food Agriculture (CDFA) for a 6-0-0 nitrogen fertilizer product, aiming to obtain CDFA organic certification to access broader markets for its fertilizer offerings.

Recognized by regulatory bodies, organic fertilizer products command higher prices compared to synthetic alternatives. Bion foresees several market opportunities for its organic fertilizers, including lawn and garden, specialty crops, and row crops like corn.
