DSM-Firmenich has opened a new food and beverages pilot plant in Plainsboro, New Jersey, USA, designed to enable collaboration with customers

Switzerland-based DSM-Firmenich AG, a company specializing in nutrition, health, and beauty, has inaugurated a new food and beverage pilot plant in Plainsboro, New Jersey, as part of its Taste, Texture, and Health Business Unit. The newly established pilot plant in Plainsboro aims to facilitate the scaling up of beverage production, catering to various applications including juices, sports drinks, carbonated beverages, sparkling water, dairy, and plant-based products. Maurizio Clementi, the executive vice president for Taste, Texture, and Health, expressed excitement about the facility, stating that the new establishment will contribute to the company’s commitment to advancing food and beverage innovation.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the pilot plant is poised to enhance collaboration with customers, fostering the creation of novel consumer experiences that prioritize taste, nutrition, and sustainability. The design of the pilot plant emphasizes seamless collaboration within DSM-Firmenich and customer teams during the development phase, with a focus on incorporating consumer feedback. Situated adjacent to DSM-Firmenich's development labs, the consumer sensory lab, and the focus group room, the pilot lab ensures consumer input is integrated throughout the development process. With its headquarters in Kaiseraugst, DSM-Firmenich AG operates globally, crafting essential nutrients, flavors, and fragrances. The company boasts a workforce of nearly 30,000 employees spread across 340 sites worldwide, spanning 60 countries.
