American Paper Optics announce...American Paper Optics, top US Manufacturer of eclipse glasses, announces they made 75 million eclipse glasses
American Paper Optics, the leading manufacturer of eclipse glasses in the United States, has announced a significant production milestone for the April 8, 2024, Total Solar Eclipse. Their Memphis-based factory manufactured a record-breaking 75 million eclipse glasses for this celestial event, a substantial increase from the 45 million produced for the 2017 eclipse. To meet the high demand and ensure the safety of millions of viewers, the company ramped up production to over 1 million solar eclipse glasses per day as the event approached. John Jerit, President and CEO of American Paper Optics, expressed pride in their ISO-certified eclipse glasses, which aid millions of Americans in safely experiencing this extraordinary celestial event, which he likened to "30 Super Bowls in the sky."
In addition to manufacturing eclipse glasses, American Paper Optics proactively educated the public on eclipse viewing safety through media interviews, books, webinars, apps, and a multimedia campaign. Notable partnerships included supplying eclipse glasses to NASA, The Planetary Society led by Bill Nye, The Science Guy, and SEAL (Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries), among others. American Paper Optics' Memphis-based factory offers a variety of optical lenses and custom eclipse glasses for organizations, events, and non-profits. Eclipse glasses were available for purchase through their website and retail chains like Walmart, Lowes, Cracker Barrel, and Warby Parker.
