This is a major step towards optimizing renewable energy usage in the country

Securing a substantial contract worth Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 crore for major clean energy grid projects, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a leading Indian multinational company in engineering and construction, has made a significant step towards global expansion.

The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) division of L&T has got important contracts for the construction of high-voltage substations and transmission lines both domestically and internationally. With the aim of facilitating the transfer of power from the Jaisalmer/Barmer Renewable Energy Zone in Rajasthan to substations in Madhya Pradesh, the company will handle two major 765 kV double-circuit transmission line projects. This is a major step towards optimizing renewable energy usage in the country. With the construction of a 380 kV substation and connected overhead lines for enhancing Saudi Arabia’s power infrastructure, L&T will also undertake international projects. This novel technology is expected to enhance the stability and efficiency of the electricity network in the central region. To address the rising electricity demands in the UAE, L&T is also authorized with the construction of a 220 kV substation and three 132 kV substations.

These new contracts highlight L&T’s dedication to promoting clean energy as well as its strong standing in the world’s power infrastructure sector.
