OnePlus Unveils Open Apex Edition
The Silicon Review
08 August, 2024

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition stands out with its "VIP" mode, a groundbreaking feature powered by an independent security chip

On August 7, OnePlus launched its new flagship foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open Apex Edition, a premium variant of its initial Open model. Priced at ₹1,49,999, this exclusive edition boasts 1TB of storage and 16 GB of RAM, making it the most expensive OnePlus device to date. The Apex Edition will hit the market on August 10.

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition stands out with its "VIP" mode, a groundbreaking feature powered by an independent security chip. This mode enhances privacy by disabling all cameras and microphones and physically isolating the device's storage to safeguard sensitive data. The phone is also CC EAL5+/EAL6+ certified, ensuring high-level security for users needing robust protection. Design-wise, the Apex Edition is available in a striking Crimson Shadow finish, reminiscent of the Hasselblad 503CW 60 Years Victor Red Edition camera, and features a vegan leather back panel. It includes the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC as the regular OnePlus Open and continues to offer a triple-camera setup with Hasselblad tuning.

The device sports dual ProXDR displays, supports 67W fast charging, and runs on OxygenOS 14, based on Android 14. It also incorporates AI features like AI Eraser and AI Smart Cutout, reflecting OnePlus's commitment to advanced technology. The Apex Edition promises three major OS upgrades and four years of security updates, marking it as a premium choice for users seeking a secure and sophisticated foldable smartphone.
