Siri, stop announcing my texts

Like any Apple fanboy (or girl), it could be an extremely exciting moment when you first pair your Airpods to your Apple device. And it may also come as a surprise when you discover that Siri automatically reads all your texts. In this article, we will teach users how to turn off airpods reading texts.

It’s really quite simple, on the ‘Settings’ App on your Apple Device, go to ‘Notifications’ and toggle the ‘Announce Notifications’ to ‘Off’.

If you want to have a quicker way of making the changes to your AirPods, you can add it to the Control Center so that you will be able to access it from the home page. To add AirPod controls to the homepage, you need to go to ‘Settings’ and look for ‘Control Center’. Once you’re in there, you need to scroll all the way down to ‘More Controls’ and tap on ‘Announce Notifications’. There will be a white cross icon that you need to tap on to activate it.

Once you have the ‘Announce Notifications’ on your Control Center, you will be able to access it by simply swiping down or up from the bottom, depending on which version you’re using. Hold the bell icon to access the options of muting announcements for as long as you want - either an hour or a day. To turn the feature on or off, all you need to do is to tap it once instead of holding it.

Other options instead of muting announcements

Apple has created some very intuitive and user-friendly features. For example, the ‘Do Not Disturb’ function is extremely useful for those who want to enjoy a movie or a podcast without any interruptions. Once you’re done focusing on your work, you can turn off ‘Do Not Disturb’ and everything will go back to as it was, with no need for additional fiddling on your end.

If you find that you are constantly changing settings back and forth, you might want to download or invest in an app that can help you save certain settings so that you only need to click one button to activate your profile. There are plenty of apps that can do that, and a quick Google search will turn up with many different options.
