The US has recalled 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat products

Consumers should check for establishment numbers 51205 or P-51205 on their products and ditch any affected items.

US meat producer BRUCEPAC has issued a sizeable recall of nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry items due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes). The recall impacts a variety of ready-to-eat produce sold at big-box retailers like Walmart, Trader Joe's, and Costco. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) proclaimed that these products were produced in Q4 of 2024 and doled out nationwide to restaurants and other institutions. USDA, when put through its paces, ascertains L. monocytogenes in BrucePac’s chicken, leading to the reminisce.

The highlight is that global ready-to-eat meat consumption is expected to amplify 4.8% from 2024-2032. Although no ailment has been linked to the contamination yet, L. monocytogenes can cause staid health problems, particularly in pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, muscle pain, and gastrointestinal issues. Consumers should check for establishment numbers 51205 or P-51205 on their products and ditch any affected items. For more details on the reminisce and safety recommendations, the public can visit the USDA website or contact their hotline.
