Zoom Introduces Realistic Digi...The feature, priced at $12 monthly, is expected to roll out in early 2024
Zoom is set to launch a groundbreaking feature allowing users to create realistic digital avatars that can replace their real selves in video messages. According to reports, this innovation will debut in Zoom Clips, enabling users to send video messages by typing text that the avatar will read aloud. The avatars will even mimic the user’s voice and facial movements for a convincingly authentic appearance.
The feature, priced at $12 monthly, is expected to roll out in early 2024. To activate the avatar, users will need to create a digital version of them via a video recording. Although Zoom has not yet disclosed use cases, it is expected that the avatars will be useful for reading pre-written transcripts rather than for spontaneous or casual discussion. Users can feel secure knowing that Zoom has put safety measures in place to stop potential abuse, such as deepfakes or misleading films. Zoom CEO Eric Yuan speculated that the technology may ultimately be used to send digital twins to virtual meetings, allowing users to miss attendance while their avatar represents them. However, for now, its application is limited to brief video messages.
After an increase in demand during the COVID-19 epidemic, Zoom is expanding its offers by utilizing AI-driven premium features. This invention has the potential to change how individuals use video communication in both private and business settings.
