Maruti Suzuki unveils e-Vitara...Maruti Suzuki unveils the e-Vitara electric SUV at Auto Expo, marking a major electrification milestone.
Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the much-awaited India-spec e-Vitara electric SUV at the 2025 Auto Expo. This is a major milestone in the company's journey toward electrification. After the eVX concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, Maruti has now brought the production-ready version of the e-Vitara to the Indian market, designed specifically for Indian consumers.
The e-Vitara boasts bold and muscular design elements, such as rugged body cladding, chunky bumpers, and a stanced posture, setting it apart from other electric SUVs. This also comes with Y-shaped projector LED headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, a C-pillar-mounted door handle, and striking connected LED tail lamps that give it its unique visual charm and electric persona.
Inside, the e-Vitara brings a premium feel with its multi-layer dashboard and twin-floating displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. A new flat-bottom steering wheel adds a modern touch, while the center console features a rotary gear selector, dedicated buttons for the drive mode selector, and the electronic parking brake. The SUV also features sophisticated equipment, which includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen display, a digital instrument cluster, multi-color ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera. It is also safer, with its 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold, hill-descent, and e-park brake with auto hold.
The e-Vitara will come in two versions of battery pack: 49 kWh and 61 kWh variant. The base variant will feature front-wheel drive, while higher-spec models will come with all-wheel drive configuration. The 49 kWh smaller battery is to provide a respectable range, but the 61 kWh dual-motor AWD version promises to deliver more power and greater range. Maruti has also priced it competitively, so the starting price is expected to be around Rs 18 lakh on-road, at least in Mumbai, though that's not announced yet.
Maruti e-Vitara seems to be an edge player in India's electric vehicle market as it makes an aggressive move with a perfect combination of style, performance, and practicality.
