Chappell Roan Wins Top New Art...Chappell Roan wins Top New Artist, celebrates 2024 success, and Billboard recognition.
With a star-studded schedule of performances and appearances from chart-topping artists including Tyla, Stray Kids, Teddy Swims, Shaboozey, and many more, the Billboard Music Awards made a comeback for their 2024 edition. Pop phenomenon Chappell Roan concluded 2024 with her first-ever victory at the Billboard Music Awards on Thursday, December 12, capping a year in which she dominated some of the largest stages in music and rose up the Billboard charts.
Accepting her trophy for Top New Artist via video, Roan expressed her gratitude to Billboard for the honor, reflecting on her successful year. She thanked Billboard for naming her the Top New Artist of 2024, calling it an amazing achievement. Roan acknowledged the support she had received; highlighting that Billboard had not only featured one of her songs but several on the charts. Even though the singer of "Good Luck, Babe!" has been in the music business since 2015, she admitted that the "new" artist classification still caught her off guard. She went on, "It’s taken a long time to be called a new artist, but it’s wonderful to be acknowledged."
Roan won the title of Top New Artist, surpassing Shaboozey, Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, and Tommy Richman. Pop artists Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, SZA, and Sabrina Carpenter joined Roan in the finals of the Top Female Artist category. Among Roan's many notable achievements for 2024 is the new trophy. The "Hot to Go!" singer broke attendance records at Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza throughout the year, advanced her 2023 album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, charted seven songs on the Hot 100, and received an astounding six Grammy nominations, including one in each of the Big Four categories.
