In a statement released late Tuesday, the USPS confirmed that it would halt the acceptance of packages from these regions "until further notice." The move follows President Donald Trump's decision to increase tariffs on Chinese imports by 10%, prompting China to impose its own countermeasures. The suspension is expected to impact Chinese e-commerce giants, though the majority of their revenue still originates from domestic markets. Alibaba Group Holding (NYSE: BABA), which derived 8.4% of its revenue from international commerce in the quarter ended September 30, saw its U.S.-listed shares fall 2.4% in premarket trading. Similarly, PDD Holdings (NASDAQ: PDD), the parent company of Pinduoduo and cross-border e-commerce platform Temu, experienced a 6% decline, while JD.com (NASDAQ: JD) dropped 3.3%.

North American e-commerce companies also felt the impact, as the suspension restricts their ability to source and sell inexpensive Chinese-manufactured goods. Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) saw its shares slip 1.4% before market open, while Shopify Inc. (NYSE: SHOP) declined 0.8%. Broader market indices reflected investor concerns, with futures tracking the benchmark S&P 500 index dropping 0.6%.
