Cycle Pharmaceuticals Acquires...PHARMACEUTICS AND LIFE SCIENCE
Cycle acquires Banner Life Sciences, adding BAFIERTAM to support MS patients with advanced care.
Cycle Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Cycle) announced today that it has successfully acquired Banner Life Sciences, LLC (Banner), including its FDA-approved monomethyl fumarate medication, BAFIERTAM®, which is used to treat adult relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). An estimated 1 million people in the US suffer from MS, with 200 new cases reported each week. The deteriorating type of the illness accounts for roughly 85% of diagnoses, and after ten years, 50% of those who receive no therapy advance to the more severe secondary-progressive form.
Alongside TASCENSO ODT® (fingolimod), BAFIERTAM will be Cycle's second branded medication for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Similar to TASCENSO, Cycle's industry-leading hub program, Cycle Vita™*, will be beneficial to BAFIERTAM patients. Banner's existing network will continue to support BAFIERTAM patients during this intermediate phase.
The acquisition of Banner, which was financed entirely with cash on hand, shows Cycle's capacity to reinvest in goods that will enable it to offer the best medications and assistance to those who need it most. This purchase coincides with growing awareness of the neurology community's long-standing worry with the lower quality of generic medications, as most recently reported in MS by Professor Darin Okuda (UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX).
James Harrison, CEO of Cycle, expressed enjoyment about enhancing the company's offerings to the MS community by including BAFIERTAM in their MS product portfolio. He highlighted that this addition will allow Cycle to support more patients through their top-tier patient support hub, Cycle Vita, while also ensuring patients have full confidence in the medicines they use to manage their MS.
